i'm in the same situation!! i wanna move out so bad, but i don't make enough money to afford rent, food, gas, cell phone bills, and other sh1t. i'd move into the college dorms but then i'd have so much debt from loans :(.

yeah, if i moved out i'd never be able to save any money cos it'd all go towards bills, food etc. i think i'm gonna wait another year until i start looking for a new job and will get a pay increase, then i might go.

My parents were just away for about ten days. It was awesome except for the two days cleaning at the end.

i know. i'd actually consider buying a unit, but it seems like too big of a commitment to make as soon as i move out of home. renting seems like such a waste of money, but if i bought a unit and lived alone then decided i wanted to live with someone else, that wouldn't really work...
how are you feeling?

How can you not afford it with the amount of money you save?

You could almost live in luxury for that amount per week here. I know you want to save lots - but that is more of a choice.

well i've only been working full time for a year, so i don't exactly make heaps. i try to save $350 of my pay each week, but i've been kind of bad with spending alot lately and haven't been saving quite that much. i need $100 a week for general expenses (petrol, food etc), and i spend about another $100 on other stuff each week give or take on concert tix etc. so if i was paying bills and stuff and paying rent on that amount of pay, i don't see how i could possibly save money for other things in life....

That is all I meant by what I said. If you move out you may only have enough money to pay your expenses - and have no money for anything else. That is not an unusual situation and it's a choice. So while being at home has its disadvantages, it gives you the opportunity to go to a lot of places and do things and buy stuff that might otherwise be unaffordable.

oh yeah i know, but i just don't like the idea of living that way. my best friend/s are in that situation, one of them moved out of home after we finished high school and in 5 years she's hardly managed to save anything, i just couldn't live like that.

i get free housing and my own studio apartment dorm. since i am an R.A i get paid 200/month as well as free housing, retailing for about 601 per month...its a good deal. maybe you can look into it...to the guy who wanted to move ot to the dorms.

Bo D. Up until now things have been fine, temporarily.

invest in a unit with a friend and yourself, pay it off, then live in it, then if one of you wants to move out, buy the other person out and keep it as an investment?
