Voting No on Prop 8 means that gays and lesbians can marry legally in the state of California.

we have the same thing in FL it's just proposition 2.
I think letting homosexuals get married is a great idea. Think of all the dresses, tuxedos, flowers, rings,.. etc they would be buying and think of the lawyers and whatnot when they get divorced. It would be so great for our economy!!

love tom...so who wants to clear up some things i dont get about prop 8 ?...i am all for gay and *** weddings...i think its great and i would be so happy for my friends...the things that bother me are:

ive read that pastors/priests ect can be sued over not performing a ceremony for a gay/*** wedding... and while i think its kinda strange in this day and age not too i completely understand them feeling that it is against their beliefs/religions ect and not wanting to do it...i think it would be completely unfair for that to happen...

ive also read that it would allow children as young as kidnergarten to be taught health ed/sex ed and that includes info about gay/*** relationships...again, im all for kids learning these things but not at such a young age......

so i feel completely torn...if i vote yes on 8 im screwing my friends and family members who are gay and if i vote no im screwing my nephew because i surely dont want him learning about ANY kind of sexual orientation when he is so young!

hmmmmm.....

jillian: lol stfu ho we dont joke about that

hate to tell ya but your nephew is already learning about heterosexual orientation, he's also learning from peers that homosexual orientation is bad and wrong. i don't see how teaching him that relationships can come many different forms at a young age is harmful to him. It's not like they are going to teach him about sex...

actually hes not learning that homosexual orientation is wrong because he is two and the subject hasnt come up because he is so young.  but when he is going into preschool and kindnegarden that is something different...i think that is young...to young...to learn about any kind of relationships.  but anyways, since i posted with my questions i watched a video that the superintendant of schools put out and it cleared up my questions.  the church thing i still question.  im bi myself..but married my husband...if it had turned out different i wouldnt want anyone telling me that i couldnt get married...at the same time i think its unfair for someone whos religion will not let them marry a same sex couple to get in trouble.  i think they should kindly refer the couple to a church that will carry out the ceremony..not be sued and possibly lose their church...but anyways, i see more good out of voting no on prop 8 than yes..

Maybe if you think about it in other ways like let's say, a bus driver is against black people because it's part of his religion still has to allow black people onto his bus, even though the bus driver truly believes black people are evil or something, because that's what it said in his fancy Koran/Torah/Bible/book.

and I won't argue this with anyone, but also a lot of people read the bible wrong...just bringing that out there.
maybe the peeps who wrote that bible didn't mean to not include same sex marriages, but because so many people take it as literally as possible, that's how they interpreted it.

NOV. 2ND 2007-BEST DAY EVER. you should ask why so I can brag.

your nephew has been learning about relationships since he was born... and he will continue to for the rest of his life. Social behavior development begins at birth. He sees his parents and you and your husband and others in heterosexual relationships all the time. The difference is his first exposure to gay relationships will most likely be associated with a negative connotation.

As a society we have taught out children that it is ok to make fun of gay people or fat people. Even you claim you are bisexual but dont want your nephew learning about that. Lets just say for one minute that your nephew turns out to be gay. Would you rather he grew up in a society that taught acceptance or continued the cycle of belittling?

I talked to both my children about homosexuality, and how it is hateful to make fun of them, just like it would be to make fun of a biracial couple. I don't think it's right that we shelter them from a normal understanding of homosexuality and keep it as a tabu subject. It's not like I want to educated them about gay sex, just gay relationships. They are not ill affected because they understand that relationships can come in many varieties.  They are empathetic and think we should stop the hate.
