so don't tell me to go to a doctor.

but do you think that buying a back brace to help your posture would be a good idea? and to spend, like, $40? is that too much/too cheap?

However, often times cheaper braces don't provide as much support and are not as durable as more expensive braces. Shop around and make sure you are getting the best brace possible that still fits in your budget while providing you with the support you need.''

I don't have scoliosis, but I have really really awful posture.

and I was PLANNING on using insurance to go to a doctor over christmas break but oh, happy birthday, your insurance expires on your 23rd birthday BUT YOU DON'T FIND THIS INFORMATION OUT UNTIL A WEEK AFTER YOUR INSURANCE EXPIRES.

happy birthday from mom and dad.

ha yeah. my dad used to constantly remind me about how the minute i turn 23, i can't piggyback from his insurance anymore and i'm screwed. too bad it already happened. i'd probably save up and get the brace. it's be a good investment in the long run!

yeah, my parents didn't know until, like,  a month ago, since before my mom wasn't working full time but then she got that job back, so it changed in September, and yeah. BUT the fact is, they could have told me ONCE THEY FUCKING FOUND OUT.

I'm pretty pissed, because I just dropped one of my classes, so now I'm not full time, so if anything happens to me, I'm totally boned.

back to the braces, yeah, I think I'm going to invest in one. It really effects my self esteem (as cheesy as that sounds) and the government just gave me some money for being poor, so, yeah.

i think you should invest in one, i wish i had during school because i've always had posture problems and i was badly bullied for it and now i suffer from backache even though my posture thing sorted itself out when i gained confidence.
but i did notice buying better shoes helps with posture while you're walking, like a good in-soles

I'd really try and do all you can to improve your posture without using a back brace. Relying on it too much might actually weaken your back muscles and keep your posture poor when you haven't got it on.

You can improve your posture by correcting it each time you catch yourself slouching, but it might take awhile to get used to it.

It's all about lifting the shoulders and keeping your head in line with them. The stomach should be relaxed.

Back strengthening exercises will also help quite a bit.

That said, if you get one, get a good one, and use it in moderation. You can do it Ms. Tangerine!

See, for YEARS I've been trying to self-correct (I've noticed when I'm drinking, I have better posture. weird) but it's not enough.

I'm going to do some more homework on it and see what I should do. I might try to do a yoga class next semester, too, because I hear that helps.

That should definitely help. It'll get you all limber too, reducing the chance for random muscle injuries and thus the need for possible doctor visits.

Slouching is such as easy habit to get into and so bad for you. Good for you for wanting to correct it.

Ooo, don't forget visualization. Sounds really hokey but it works. Picture good posture each day in the morning and it'll help.
