Do you think No Doubt will have a lot more promotion going on for this next tour since they'll have a new album out, then they did with this last tour? Cause I noticed this 09 tour didn't have the Verizon Wireless screens ect....
On a side note, I'm sure they'll have a very different stage theme next time around, but I liked all the white all over the stage I think it made pictures turn out better. I'm not a photo expert, but it seems the white stage helped reflect the flash from cameras better. Because it seems photos turned out better on this tour then previous tours.
I'm going to SLC, Utah May 25th, Irvine, CA July 31, August 1st, and Irvine, CA August 2nd and Irvine August 4th.

True, but if you compare that to the promotion they did with the Rock Steady tour, which dwarfs any promotion done for the 2009 tour.

Well, usually tour support is done (at least in part) by record labels. At least with smaller bands, and in the past.
It seems like there are at least two things causing decreases--no album, and a tanking music industry. The record label doesn't make anything off the band touring, unless the touring causes people to buy more music. Bands make their money from playing and selling merch. The tour promotions they did were appearances on tv shows. They had that insurance company doing some stuff...most of it was viral promotion though, or at least that's how it seemed.
I want a new record, a new tour, and I never want it to stop!
When I've got the music, I've got a place to go...

I understand. Yeah, it seems like as the years go by there's less good new bands and less good old bands releasing new stuff. If or when this new No Doubt album gets released No Doubt will be one of the few decent acts out there still making music and playing. With the combination of No Doubt only having one record left in their contract with Interscope and the tanking music industry, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this was No Doubt's last new album and even last tour next year, and if that were the case then hopefully they end on a big positive note and making it memoriable.
I'm going to SLC, Utah May 25th, Irvine, CA July 31, August 1st, and Irvine, CA August 2nd and Irvine August 4th.

There have been a lot of old bands from the 90s (and 80s) who have tried to make comebacks but fail because their record companies don't put money into them.

I think that's one of the reasons for this summer 09 tour, was to test the waters and get an idea if they still have a fanbase. I think a lot of those old bands who failed, did so because they didn't have the kind of following No Doubt does. And I think No Doubt has the power to stay true to themselves and their fans. I have a natural bias because ND is my most favorite band, but I think this most recent tour proved that they still have a huge following and it would still be worth it to do another record and tour. Where other bands failed, I think No Doubt will comeback strong.

I totally agree. Even though I really didn't care for Gwen's solo phase, I think it played a big part in this recent tour doing so well, I think at least 50% of the ticket buyers were fans from Gwen's solo era's if not more. And of coarse that explains the free music download ect.... And I think it helped build a fanbase for people who will buy the future No Doubt record that they're working on and attend their shows in 2010. And in turn having Paramore and The Sounds open really helped bring people over to the No Doubt world.
I'm going to SLC, Utah May 25th, Irvine, CA July 31, August 1st, and Irvine, CA August 2nd and Irvine August 4th.

Agree. It's nice to not have kids tell me that No Doubt is "old people music." I certainly do listen to "old people music" but it's got nothing to do with No Doubt.

That's completely inaccurate and pretty offensive to me. No Doubt's presales were 144 % higher than Gwen's, and why? Because they're more popular! Over 50 % of Gwen fans who bought her tickets were already ND fans. That really offended me how you desensitized the greater respect had for ND as a long-lasting band.

Chilax Okay...... it's only an opinion. And plus you're reading way too much into what I posted. For one thing if there's anybody that loves and respects No Doubt more than Gwen solo it's me. In fact you may not be aware, but I got a lot of backlash for critisizing Gwen's solo era and for saying how much better No Doubt was. I've been listening to ND since the late 90's and my first No Doubt concert was on the Return Of Saturn tour in 2000, then I went on to go to 7 more ND shows between 2000 and 2009. I HATED Gwen's solo era's it was like pouring salt and lemon juice in a deep cut. I went to her shows out of curiosity and support, but I'm so glad it's over.
What I based my opinion from your quote is I went to all four Irvine shows on top of Utah and at least half of the fans raised their hands when Gwen asked if this was their first ND show. That made me think that huge amount of the fans who showed up were from Gwen's solo era,, meaning Yes, they were ND fans at the shows, but they became ND fans because of Gwen's solo era and that's why they were seeing ND for the very first time, but to go along with what you're saying I've always beleved that ND having a strong loyal followiing was also a big part of the ticket sales. I was just saying Gwen staying in the spotlight during their 7 or 8 year break contributed to people checking ND out and becoming fans thus ending up going to their shows on this last tour.
I'm going to SLC, Utah May 25th, Irvine, CA July 31, August 1st, and Irvine, CA August 2nd and Irvine August 4th.
