The only way to stop the Island skipping through time is to get the Oceanic 6 back on the Island. And Desmond has to find Daniel's mother (people think it's Ms. Hawking) to get the O6 back. But after the writer's got it out of their systems, it was quite a ncie episode :) I was quite sad to see that there were no big shockers... I knew from watching the trailers that the Island had gone back in time, but jumping to different time periods was a complete surprise! It's going to be a great way to get some answers about the Island's past, which will shut up all the "when are we getting answers?" people. The compass Richard gives Locke is probably the same one he shows him at age 5, when he asks him to choose an item which already belongs to him. Everything's going to change.    Report

I'm almost certain thats his mom. I was watching "The Constant" yesterday (my fav ep) and Daniel's drawings and equations are very close to Mrs. Hawking's work. She was also doing it in private and remember, Daniel told Des that Oxford frowned upon his experiments.  That brings me to another theory. Is the reason the island people need the O6 because the O6 are their "constants"? I think it could be, being Daniel was the only one who was able to communicate with "past" Desmond. Also, in Daniel's notebook on "The Constant" it reads "If Something goes wrong, Desmond will be my constant"    Report

I've read a theory that the O6 might be their constants, but I think that only works if your mind is unstuck in time. If your mind is unstuck, you travel to points in your life, not different points on the Island's timeline. And yeah, I saw that in Daniel's holy bible of the Lost universe. Everything's going to change.    Report
