I haven't been all over the country & I have visited Philly briefly once.
I grew up in Miami Beach, Florida & have visited other parts of Florida (Orlando, Tallahassee, Pensacola, West Palm Beach, Ft. Myers, Sanibel & Captiva Islands, Key Largo, Key West) at various times.
My first trip out of Florida was a road trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey with a family friend when I was in 5th grade (1981)...we drove straight up the Atlantic Coast (through Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware)...from Atlantic City we took a day trip into Philadelphia, where we visited the Franklin Institute & the Liberty Bell...I got to see snow for the first time that trip even though it was already around Easter...we spent a day/night visiting relatives in Sanford, North Carolina on the drive back down.
After that, my friends & I visited New York City for a long weekend in April 1989 (we took a bus up & stayed at the YMCA)...it was love at first sight & I returned to do a semester at New York University in 1992 & then after my mom passed away, I moved back to NYC from 1994-1997 & have been living back here the past 2 years since 2007.
In 1993, I took my first plane ride to visit my friend who was studying at Reed College in Portland, Oregon & from there we took a bus up to spend a few days in Seattle, Washington.
In September 1998, while trying to get away from Hurricane Georges, I drove up to visit friends who were living in Atlanta, Georgia for the long weekend.
In 2000, I took my first & only trip out of the country to visit my friend who was living in Spain...we spent 5 days in Madrid & another week where she was living in Seville.
In 2004, I moved to San Francisco, California for 3 years & from there took trips to Oakland & Berkeley right across the bay, to Marin County, the wine country in neighboring Sonoma Valley, down the coast to Carmel, Monterey, and Santa Cruz, & in April 2006 I flew down to Palm Springs to see Madonna perform at the Coachella Festival....later in 2006, I took my only trip away from either coast to visit a friend who's at the federal prison in Ashland, Kentucky (which borders both West Virginia & Ohio so I drove momentarily through both states.
In July 2007, I spent a few days in Washington, D.C. for my friend's graduation from grad school.
