GO DOWN TO THE ***** Ok, so we showed up at the BBC TV Centre at around 5:30 p.m. and people were in the 'audience' line already. I had called ahead to speak to the ticket guy about handicapped accesability because I don't do well on stairs, so when they started letting people in five minutes later, me and my husband went up to the front of the line to be given our blue numbered sticker.... We had to put our belts and purses/bags through the security scanner, before entering any further. After exiting the security area, we were 'outside' again and continued further on to the doors ahead. We entered the audience foyer and remained there for about a half hour before they announced "blue stickers numbered 39 to 100, please get in line" (#1-38 were for production audience, qhich I don't think any of those people were there). We entered another double doors, turn left and went down a hallway, waited there for about five minutes, went through another set of double doors, walked across the driveway area (outside again) and waited for another 10 minutes before entering the last set of double doors to the studio. When entering, there was a set of steps up to the audience stands, but we had reserved seating in the front row. Here's a pic of the CC show previous setup: Now, I thought the interview section was the circle on the far left, the band and singing guests in the middle, and the 'orchestra' or stand alone band on the far right circle. But the interview part and stand alone band part, was switched.... Where it says 'show' in the picture, that's where we sat. And there wasn't a long walkway thing where charlotte and nelly furtado were, it was just an egg shaped circle, then bam, the band in the background. So we weren't far away from Charlotte when she was singing. They had a warm-up guy telling jokes and stuff beforehand, as well as in between takes. I got my moment when he said if there was any americans in the audience.... I went 'wooo' and told him I was from south california (why I didn't say southern, I have no idea) - he then told me to give him an american 'whoo', in which I did. He just wanted the audience to applaud like 'how americans applaud', with lots of 'whoops' and 'ya' going on. ********************GWEN PART STARTS HERE************************************ Anyway, Charlotte came on and sang her theme tune song, it was a bit different this time, I think better. I couldn't really hear of all of what she was saying since it was kinda loud with the music, but we were seated about 6-7 inches away from her, so that was good. She then introduced her guests - the covering that was hiding the interview section, slid around, and there was Billie Piper, Gwen Stefani and McFly. I'm pretty sure Gwen waved when Charlotte said her name. She interviewed Billie Piper first (Gwen and McFly had disappeared for that), which felt longer than it probably actually was. Then it was Gwen's turn.... They covered the middle circle section where the band part was, so Gwen was hiding behind there - then the cover opened up in the middle and slid away to reveal Gwen when she was 'announced'. (going back to the picture again, she was standing where charlotte and nelly furtado were) She waved to the crowd, and turned to her left to go join Charlotte. (FYI - I don't think she's 'tiny' like other people say, sure she looked taller than she probably really is, cause the shoes, but she looks just as fit or short as I thought she would be) She had her hair in a ponytail, with her bangs sweeped to the right. She was wearing a grey silky knee length dress that kinda was shaped more curvier than this '^' at the knee - it was off the shoulder on her left side and a short sleeve on her right. She had on her black hosiery with those black heels she wore when leaving Jimmy Kimmel, natural-like make-up, and a double banded belt, one white, one black, I think with the "G's" on it. Charlotte asked her 'how can you walk in those shoes!' in which Gwen had replied that they're actually really comfortable - Charlotte was hesitant in believing that, and Gwen was just like 'for truth'. She asked her what 'real' jobs she had before (joke) and Gwen replied "Ummm, I worked at Dairy Queen, I don't think you guys have those, it's like an ice-cream place, and I worked at the Broadway selling make-up and clothes to mature people, and erm, oh, I worked as a lifeguard, yeah I taught little kids how to swim". Charlotte mentioned the thing about Gwen being pregnant on her last tour, and Gwen had said she hopes that doesn't happen again and that she should be coming here in "mmmmmm (she squinched her mouth like she was unsure) September/October". Charlotte showed an image of Kingston, and one of Gwen and Gavin - Gwen had said Kingston was there with her, that he was probably watching her over there or somewhere (pointing out towards the side of the studio - but I think he was backstage). Charlotte had asked how many kids she wants, like 9? Gwen said, maybe two or three more, but that being able to have one was just a miracle on its own. Charlotte then did a little comedy thing where she says that Gwen always looks good when she goes out, but that she (charlotte) doesn't - she went on to compare with photos. Both Charlotte and Billie were saying 'I want some L.A.M.B.!' and Gwen was like 'I know, I was thinking I should've brought you some clothes... I'll hook you up though' - Billie had said she was excited now  She mentioned she was the 'get-ready' girl when going to a club, like she's mentioned before. And Charlotte had got the Gwen dolls out and asked her "I heard Gavin likes to put your dolls in different positions around the house, is that true?" Gwen had replied, "Ummm (pause) no, that's not true.....". And that was pretty much it! No new information except for the possible coming to the UK time news (and that article about the dolls being false), but she still seemed unsure about when exactly that would be..... There were some fans that did say "I love you Gwen" but she didn't really respond at all - I thought she heard, cause they were loud, but my husband thinks she didn't hear them. In my opinion, being there and watching her, compared to the interviews she's done in the US, she seemed like she had other things on her mind, like she 'wasn't all there' or not exactly that, but just, I don't know. I had said it's possible it was jet-lag, but she just looked like she felt out of place. When Charlotte was talking and joking, she kinda just smiled vaguely, or didn't really hear her in the first place. I also had mentioned that it's possible she did indeed felt out of place because of the fact that she probably has no idea who McFly is, probably doesn't have a very good idea about who Billie Piper is, and probably doesn't know how 'big' or popular Charlotte Church is in the UK. I know when I came here in 2005, I didn't get the whole thing of why Charlotte Church was in the tabloids or was popular, so I can understand how Gwen might've felt that way. She left immediately after her interview segment was over. Billie Piper stayed behind cause they had to film a teeny bit more with her, but she left too when her segment was done. McFly took two takes to sing their song (they sang Primal Scream's "Rocks" song), as the producer wanted it done a second time. Both times, the guitarist in the silver metallic shirt, broke one guitar string.... not his fault, my husband tells me, as the tech people didn't do a good job with putting the strings on the day before, and then tightening them on the day. Charlotte did sing with them, barefoot (she did some of the interview barefoot too) but I don't think they'll show you that on the show Friday :p I'm not disappointed, as I expected I wouldn't meet Gwen or anything, just kinda wondering what was going on with her this time. I can speculate and say it was 'this' or 'that' but we'll never know.... I don't think anyone got to see her coming in to the studio, and I know no one saw her leaving cause it was a good half hour before the whole show was done after Gwen left. Gwen didn't give away anything, like she had done for TRL (twice), Ellen, and I think Muchmusic? It had crossed my mind that 'maybe' she'd give away something, but then I knew already she wouldn't because, as far as I know, you can't get Harajuku Lovers in the UK, and L.A.M.B. is only available at Harvey Nichols, and the dolls, I think you can get from Claire's? So, alot of her stuff isn't mass marketed here  Out of all the people I did see, no one was wearing any HL or L.A.M.B..... at all. I wore my HL blue lux the cat turtleneck and took my HL medallion messenger bag with me  I really wanted to go 'whoo' when Charlotte mentioned L.A.M.B. but I didn't want to get thrown out, as everyone else was quiet. And I also wanted to shout 'Dairy Queen!' when she took a while to answer the 'previous jobs' question.... That's the review! Any questions? And no, sadly I could not get any photos of anything as the people with the mics and earpiece were all over the place........ There's no way I could've been sneaky about it I only got a random picture of me coming back home..... I'm going to bed now, as I got home at half past midnight, called my mom in cali and told her the whole story, then came on here to type this thing out! I'm sure she must have been tired from the long trip from LA to London; she's said in other interviews that the jet lag can be tough. I'm sorry there wasn't a giveaway,but like you said, the clothing lines aren't readily available in the UK,and on those other shows she had given away concert tix, which she couldn't have done yet for the UK because the dates and venues haven't even been announced. It's cool you wore the HL turtleneck-it's really cute. Thanks again for sharing-it seems like a pretty good interview(except for the doll question). I just mean she just doesnt seem to be as open as the other guests, like shes holding back. On popworld she never really used to laugh at any of the jokes or play along with simon back when he did it, or alexa really. shes always so serious. maybe shes just nervous...or self concious. Its not right for your lungs to be coughing up blood    Report

I noticed that too, like when she was on Jonathon Ross to promote her first solo cd, she did kinda laugh at his jokes, but she didn't seem as open, as you said, like uncomfortable or out of place again, or not knowing what to expect. She does live in London, but mostly I think, in L.A. And no paparazzi have snapped her reading any tabloids or gossip mags, though I'm sure she does - but even if she knew who they were, they're not big, compared to other people on some of the american shows she's been on.    Report

American interviewers are like ten times more sycophantic than British ones, so the American ones are probably easier for her. Like Ellen sitting telling her how amazing she is (i didn't see it but i'm guessing she did since she does it with everyone) How threatening is Ellen? About at threatning as an apple. Jonathan Ross on the other hand talks about non nicey-nicey things (like the death of Winston). OOoo Ahh... the pain is tremendous Why can't I take it like a man?    Report
