Today in No Doubt/Gwen Stefani's Music History - Wiki

Ok I decided to create a new thread, something like a "On this day in No Doubt/Gwen Stefani's Music History" kind of archive. So feel free to add important events, birthdays, weddings, that happened on the exact day you're posting.

April 16 - In 1998, Gwen performed "Almost Blue" (Elvis Costello cover) at AT&T's Stormy Weather benefit concert.

Most fans might not have recognized the night’s first singer, Stefani, who has sold millions of records with ska-rockers No Doubt, as she lit into the Andrew Sisters’ “I Can Dream, Can’t I?” and the torch song “Almost Blue” dressed in a green satin, sequined gown and a bobbed, little-girl hairdo. The normally aggressive performer, however, maintained an edginess as she crafted the standard around her guttural vocal style and tough-girl swagger. (MTV)

This Week in Billboard Chart History: Ten Years Ago, Gwen Stefani's 'Hollaback Girl' Hit No. 1

    May 7, 2005
Ten years ago today, Gwen Stefani made her first and only trip to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as "Hollaback Girl" began a four-week reign. (Stefani might've topped the chart earlier, as her band No Doubt's "Don't Speak" led the Radio Songs chart for a whopping 16 weeks in 1996-97. But, since it was not commercially-available as a single, it was not eligible to chart on the Hot 100, per rules at the time.)

Oh damn, that was the first single out after I joined the forum! I remember the video premiering and a bunch of people from here managed to get in it.
